Great Lakes Protection

 I <3 Great Lakes

Michigan is at the heart of our Great Lakes.

For many of us, the Great Lakes are central to our quality of life.

That's why the Sierra Club's Great Lakes Program volunteers and staff are working so hard to restore and protect our precious Great Lakes.

Help Sierra Club Protect Detroit's Water!

In Detroit, they're showing us all that investment into green infrastructure to capture rainwater, such as rain gardens and swales, is far better than installing old gray pipes to merely shunt water away.  Rain is a precious resource, and once it flows off streets and parking lots to storm drains and rivers, it is gone for good. At home, they're disconnecting downspouts and using rain barrels to capture rain for use in gardens and even lawns.  Find out what else they're doing to Keep Our Great Lakes Great!

Contact Melissa Damaschke to join in and help at 313-965-0055.  You can also sign up online to help and to be kept informed by taking our online survey of your interests here.

If you prefer, you can download the letter for Great Lakes Activists, fill it out, and mail it to Melissa.

The Great Lakes Program produced A Citizens Guide to Protecting the Great Lakes for you to download.  Packed with information, the Citizen's Guide will help you be a better Great Lakes protector.
