Conservation Programs
The Huron Valley Group has an active Conservation Team. Locally, our goal is to protect and preserve outstanding natural areas and the quality of air, water and soils of our region. This is a particularly challenging task in the face of the increasing development in Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, and the surrounding area. Huron Valley Group members have worked to preserve sensitive natural areas and oppose incinerators and hazardous waste landfills.
At the state level, the conservation focus is to improve protection and management of our state and national forest lands. Political action is also important and we are in frequent contact with representatives of government at all levels to support strong environmental legislation and oppose poor legislation.
